GBC Motorsports Racers Race Through Steele Creek GNCC
Conditions were good and the fans were out in force as GBC Motorsports racers arrived at the Steele Creek Campground in Morganton, NC for the fourth round of the 2017 GNCC Series.
4x4 Pro class rider Jordan Phillips once again laid down the best time for GBC Motorsports riders with a 6th place class finish and 11th place in the AM Overall. After four rounds of racing Phillips is in 7th place in the competitive class standings. Doug Robey continued his charge at Steele Creek, earning his second 4x4 A victory of the year and a season-best 13th place in the Overall. Ken Robey kept his perfect season alive with a fourth consecutive win in 4x4 Senior competition.
Jordan Phillips laid down the 11th best time in the morning races.
Katelyn Osburn put in another impressive performance in Round 4, taking a 3rd place podium finish and claiming the 14th best time Overall. Osburn’s consistent racing has her in 3rd place in the WXC standings. Fellow GBC rider Kara Merritt rounded out the WXC top 5 and notched another Overall Top 20 finish.
Another GBC racer looking to keep a streak alive was Jeremy LeDonne in the 19+ C class. LeDonne raced to his third straight class win and holds a considerable lead in the standings. Paul Holleron added a podium with his 3rd place run in the Silver Masters class. Other notable performances from the morning races included William Brown with a 5th place in the 4x4 B class, Doug Moore with 5th place in 4x4 C, and Brittany Reebel with a 5th place finish in Women Amateur.
Johnny Gallagher led GBC in the pro ranks with a 5th place XC1 finish.
As the day of racing progressed in Morganton, GBC Motorsports racers in the XC1 class were led by Johnny Gallagher, whose 5th place finish is a season best. Landon Wolfe finished 6th in the class for the third straight round while Marty Christofferson put in his own season-best with a 7th place finish.
The story of the afternoon though was GBC’s XC2 Pro-Am rider Devon Feehan, who has been off to a dominant start in this young 2017 season. With two wins and a 2nd place already under his belt, Feehan blazed through the Steele Creek course to another XC2 class win and the 5th best time Overall time. Fellow GBC rider Matt Lindle joined him on the podium in 2nd place and a season best 9th place in the PM Overall.
Devon Feehan won the XC2 Pro-Am class and earned a season-best 5th place Overall finish.
GBC Motorsports racers rounded up a few more podium finishes by the end of the day. Nick Mastrangelo finished in 2nd place in the Junior A class, keeping his podium streak alive. Tom Koontz finished 2nd in the Vet A class, climbing back up to 4th place in the standings after missing Round 3. John Sousa took 2nd in the Vet B class for the fourth straight time as well.
The UTV classes will be back in action next round as GBC Motorsports racers head to Society Hill, SC for the Camp Coker Bullet GNCC on April 22-23.
